Apply now
As an SDE, you’ll help us build our Factory of Economics, where economists can operate independently and in parallel, unconstrained by tech bottlenecks or engineering bandwidth. The goal: no software rewrites, predictable time to production, early integration, and fast iteration. You’ll work with tools such as DBT, Python, Apache Airflow, Spark, Iceberg; AWS services like Lambda, Bedrock, and SageMaker, containers, and whatever adds the most value. You’ll design tools that are simple, semantic, and scalable. As you gain familiarity with the domain, you’ll help define and lead the technical direction of economic projects.
Key job responsibilities
  • Build and extend the Factory of Economics: automate and accelerate data pipelines, platforms, and tools, including ML and LLM capabilities, to scale innovative science products.
  • Collaborate with economists to shape technical project requirements and direction.
  • Be a technical leader that is not afraid to challenge the norms and innovate.
  • Continually improve our systems and improve iteration speed, for yourself or others.
  • Contribute to long-term strategy for data infrastructure, best practices, and operational excellence.
  • Dive deep into our tools to make well-informed integration and architecture decisions.

About the team
  • AWS resources at our disposal, with no red tape. We invest to add value. Fast.
  • Zero-ops mindset. We build in a way we can focus on delivery, not maintenance.
  • No on-call. No phone paging.
  • Lean and pragmatic: No stand-ups or sprints; we work towards clear, business-aligned quarterly goals.
  • Greenfield projects and a focus on simple solutions for complex domains.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in professional, non-internship software development
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Strong interest in learning economic thinking - you'll be immersed in it daily

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with Machine Learning, A/B testing, or other tools from economics and statistics.
