Backend Engineer

The problems you’ll tackle

• High-throughput optimisation APIs (~10k – 100k rps) with p99 latencies < 100 ms.
• Data pipelines that stream outcome signals and model metrics in real time.
• Container-first deployments (Docker → Kubernetes) across AWS and GCP.
• Security, observability and reliability baked in from commit to production.

Core responsibilities

• Write production-grade Python services; drop into Rust/C++ for latency-critical paths.
• Model clean domain boundaries; expose REST/GRPC interfaces and message topics (Kafka).
• Automate infra with Terraform, Helm and GitHub Actions; own your build → release path.
• Instrument code with Prometheus + OpenTelemetry; set SLOs and watch the graphs.
• Review design docs, run load tests and iterate fast with ML, product and design peers.

We don’t expect mastery of every bullet - strength in some plus the drive to learn the rest beats a perfect checklist.

Nice to have (but teachable on the job)

• Helm charts, ArgoCD, Linkerd / Istio
• Event sourcing, CQRS or streaming architectures
• SOC 2 / ISO 27001 evidence gathering
• Hands-on LLM or GPU workload exposure
