In This Role, You Will

• Develop AI-First Features: Architect and build intelligent features from concept to production, leveraging generative AI to create novel user experiences within our Ruby on Rails/ Python web application.
• Master Prompt Engineering: Craft, test, and manage a repository of effective prompts for various tasks, including data synthesis from our vast dataset, content generation, and workflow automation.
• Champion AI-Augmented Development: Lead by example in using AI coding assistants as a core part of the development cycle. Establish and share best practices to boost team productivity and code quality.
• Integrate and Innovate: Implement both backend logic (Ruby on Rails/Python) and intelligent frontend interactions (JavaScript, Hotwire, React), evaluating and integrating third-party and open-source AI models to solve real-world customer problems.
• Leverage Data for AI: Utilize our extensive dataset to inform and prepare data for AI-driven insights. Apply advanced database skills (SQL in PostgreSQL) to power our intelligent systems.
• Collaborate on AI Strategy: Work in close coordination with designers, product managers, and data scientists to rapidly prototype, validate, and ship AI-powered features.
• Ensure Quality & Performance: Write comprehensive tests (unit, integration, functional) for AI-driven features, ensuring they are not only intelligent but also reliable, performant, and scalable.

• 3+ years of professional programming experience in a web application environment.
• Demonstrable experience (1+ years) building or integrating AI/ML features into production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails or Python, with a solid working knowledge of JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering to elicit desired outputs from Large Language Models (LLMs) for tasks beyond simple chat.
• Deep practical experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) as a core part of your daily development workflow.
• A strong understanding of the generative AI landscape, including the capabilities and limitations of major models and when to apply them.
• Experience building and shipping products as a collaborator who contributes ideas and helps shape the roadmap.
• Familiarity with high-performing, agile development teams and best practices like CI/CD, code reviews, and feature flags.

• Experience with AI-specific libraries or frameworks like Langchain, ollama, FastMCP or direct experience with model APIs from providers like OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic.
• Prior experience fine-tuning smaller, open-source models for specific tasks.
• A degree in Computer Science or a completed technical Bootcamp.
• Advanced database skills in PostgreSQL.
• Experience working within a design system to ensure visual and interaction consistency. Hotwire and Tailwind CSS experience is a significant bonus.
