Web & Database Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients to clarify project objectives, discuss the software stack, database technology, and frameworks to be used, and establish a project timetable and budgetary requirements.
• Create high-performance web applications, APIs, and database schemas that align with project specifications and client expectations.
• Research development trends, consider previous related projects, and compare costs and benefits associated with different technology stacks.
• Prepare wireframes, architectural diagrams, database schemas, and mock-ups to present to clients and make any necessary adjustments.
• Work with various teams to ensure the integration of the application logic with the database, front-end UI, and overall project timelines.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications and instructions to realise the application vision and oversee the full development lifecycle.
• Develop secure and efficient backend APIs and business logic using frameworks like FastAPI.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure databases using technologies like Azure SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Build responsive and interactive user interfaces using modern front-end libraries like React.

• Candidates possess a foundation course, a BTEC/SQA award, or a degree in a relevant subject, such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A comprehensive portfolio or examples of previous work demonstrating a wide range of web and database projects is highly important.
• Proficiency with backend languages, particularly Python (FastAPI), and modern front-end libraries like React.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases (e.g., Azure SQL, PostgreSQL) and data modelling principles.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and cloud deployment practices.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality code within tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude, with a keen eye for detail and an innovative mindset.

• Previous experience in a full-stack development role or within a software consultancy.
• Knowledge of deploying applications on cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of API design principles, data security, and performance optimisation.
