Senior Data Engineer

Global / Remote (1099 Contractor, Full-Time)

DMD Solutions is proud to be partnering with Foundations United in the search for a Senior Data Engineer. Foundations United is building a connected ecosystem of DAOs and blockchain-native products that redefine how communities collaborate, govern, and create.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical hands-on role in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our Web3 ecosystem. Reporting to the Head of Data, you will be responsible for developing scalable data pipelines, ensuring data reliability and quality, and enabling analytics and reporting across multiple brands and protocols.

This role is ideal for someone who deeply understands modern data engineering, enjoys building production-grade systems, and thrives in fast-moving, async-first environments.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Pipelines

• Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest data from on-chain and off-chain sources.
• Implement batch and real-time data processing workflows to support analytics, reporting, and experimentation.
• Ensure pipelines are scalable, maintainable, and resilient as data volume and complexity grow.

Data Infrastructure & Platforms

• Develop and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and streaming systems used across the ecosystem.
• Optimize data storage, transformations, and queries for performance and cost efficiency.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging to ensure data freshness, reliability, and availability.

Data Quality & Governance

• Enforce data quality standards, validation rules, and testing practices.
• Contribute to data lineage, documentation, and metadata management.
• Partner with the Head of Data to implement governance, access controls, and security best practices.

Analytics Enablement

• Work closely with analytics, product, growth, and operations stakeholders to deliver clean, reliable datasets.
• Support dashboarding, KPI development, and self-service analytics use cases.
• Help translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Collaborate closely with the Head of Data, product engineers, and platform teams.
• Review and improve data engineering patterns, tooling, and workflows.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior data engineers as the team grows.
• Participate in architectural discussions and help shape long-term data platform decisions.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience building production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python strongly preferred).
• Experience with modern data warehouses and/or data lake architectures.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools and data pipeline automation.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization.
• Experience implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting.
• Comfortable working in remote-first, async environments with minimal oversight.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Web3 or blockchain data (on-chain events, wallets, smart contract interactions).
• Familiarity with real-time streaming systems and event-driven architectures.
• Experience supporting analytics and BI tools for reporting and dashboards.
• Exposure to data governance, access control, and security best practices.
• Experience in startup or high-growth environments.
