Senior Software Engineer- Ruby on Rails

Software engineering is at an inflection point, AI tools are changing the game. As a team we are investing in this change, and we’re looking for new joiners who want to help define our approach and make us better.

If you think AI has no role in the craft of software engineering this probably isn’t the job for you, on the flip side if you think there is no human craft left in software engineering, the same advice applies.

Responsibilities

• Extensive production experience with Ruby, Rails and Postgres (or other relational DB)
• Write robust, well-tested and well-designed code
• Be curious about new tooling, specifically AI programming assistants, and have strategies for using them
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Instrument, monitor and scale systems as required
• Deliver large complex features
• Take the lead on turning abstract requirements into functional software
• Have a history of upskilling others around you
• Give excellent code reviews.

Nice to haves. You might have

• An interest in deployment processes: containers, CI/CD
• A track record delivering multiple large projects simultaneously
• Experience integrating complex systems; we work with large hospitals, transferring data is a challenge.

Day to day you might be...

• Writing an algorithm to suggest which doctors should report on which scans according to their capacity, skills and interests
• Upgrading the speech to text software our doctors use to dictate their reports
• Establishing and implementing the technical requirements for our first international customer.
