Senior Infrastructure / Research Engineer

Aware Fund

Aware Fund is a family office and venture studio building companies around tokenized real-world assets (RWA), crypto infrastructure, and a social good focus on education, upskilling, and social mobility.

We work at the intersection of:

  • tokenized real-world assets
  • protocol grant ecosystems
  • structured finance and on-chain capital formation
  • infrastructure for asset-backed crypto systems
  • social good through education, upskilling, and social mobility

Our work touches ecosystems including Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism.

The Role

We are hiring several crypto-native infrastructure engineers with strong research instincts and broad systems experience. While we prefer senior candidates, we will consider junior applicants.

This role sits across infrastructure engineering, protocol research, and venture building. You will help design, prototype, deploy, automate, and maintain systems that support tokenized real-world assets, crypto-native financial infrastructure, and internal operating workflows.

We are looking for someone who is not only comfortable in web3 environments, but also strong in modern web2 infrastructure and automation. The ideal candidate can own reliability and deployment across a mixed stack, improve internal operational systems, and build practical automations that reduce manual work.

What You’ll Work On

Infrastructure and Reliability

You will design and maintain production-grade infrastructure across early-stage products and internal platforms, including:

  • CI/CD pipelines
  • deployment workflows
  • cloud infrastructure and environments
  • GitHub-based engineering automations
  • observability, reliability, and operational tooling
  • developer workflows and release processes

This is an SRE-leaning role. We want someone who can improve system reliability, reduce operational friction, and help teams move faster with better engineering discipline. You should also be enthusiastic about mentoring and teaching interns, fellows, and your peers as we value learning and upskilling to the utmost.

Protocol and Grant Ecosystem Work

You will support technical work across major ecosystem grant and governance programs, including:

  • Ethereum ecosystem grants
  • Solana Foundation grants
  • Polygon ecosystem funding
  • Arbitrum and Optimism governance grants

Work may include:

  • mapping grant requirements
  • designing technical proposals
  • building prototypes and proof-of-concepts
  • defining infrastructure architecture for submissions
  • supporting implementation plans after approval

RWA Infrastructure Research

You will analyze and help shape infrastructure related to tokenized real-world assets, including:

  • tokenization platforms
  • custody infrastructure
  • oracle systems
  • compliance and workflow layers
  • asset-backed protocol architecture
  • operating systems that connect on-chain and off-chain processes

Automation and Internal Tooling

A key part of the role is building automation across both product and operations. This includes:

  • GitHub automations and engineering workflows
  • Google Workspace and Google Apps Script automations
  • internal back-office tooling
  • workflow automation using platforms such as OpenClaw
  • systems that reduce manual operations across finance, reporting, approvals, and internal coordination

We value engineers who can identify repetitive operational work and replace it with reliable systems.

Technical Research and Modeling

You will also build tools and frameworks that support venture development, such as:

  • protocol analysis
  • token emission and incentive modeling
  • financial scenario modeling
  • infrastructure stack comparisons
  • internal research tools and automations

What We’re Looking For

We are specifically looking for more senior engineers who combine technical breadth with sound execution.

Strong candidates will typically have experience in several of the following areas:

  • SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering
  • CI/CD design and deployment automation
  • GitHub Actions, repository automation, and developer tooling
  • cloud infrastructure and production operations
  • web3 infrastructure and crypto-native systems
  • web2 application infrastructure and backend operations
  • Google Workspace automation, including Google Apps Script
  • workflow and operations automation for internal teams
  • designing systems that bridge technical products and real-world business processes

Relevant domain exposure may include:

  • Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum, or Optimism ecosystems
  • DeFi infrastructure or tokenized asset systems
  • protocol governance, grants, or tokenomics
  • crypto research, technical writing, or grant writing
  • structured finance, capital formation, or asset-backed systems

Backgrounds We Value

We are open to different backgrounds, but strong candidates often come from:

  • computer science
  • engineering
  • economics or finance with strong technical ability
  • applied mathematics
  • infrastructure-heavy startup or platform teams

Ideal Candidate Profile

Strong candidates often have some mix of:

  • hands-on ownership of infrastructure in production environments
  • open-source contributions to crypto or developer infrastructure
  • experience at startups, venture-backed teams, or research-driven organizations
  • comfort moving between architecture, implementation, automation, and research
  • the ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • strong written communication and systems thinking

What You’ll Gain

  • direct exposure to the tokenized real-world asset ecosystem
  • hands-on work across major protocol grant ecosystems
  • the opportunity to help design and scale new crypto infrastructure businesses
  • close collaboration with operators working at the intersection of crypto and private markets
  • broad ownership across research, infrastructure, automation, and deployment
