Java Developer
Are you a Java Developer looking to be part of a team building cutting-edge, event-driven systems that power millions of digital advertising moments every day? As a Java Developer within our Digital Out of Home (DOOH) team, you ll help develop the programmatic advertising platform that powers all digital assets across Global s outdoor estate 6 large roadside signs to the Transport for London network. You ll work with modern Java microservices (Java 21, Spring Boot) deployed on Kubernetes (EKS on AWS), using CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Terraform) and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, on a platform that must run 24/7, 365 days a year.
Responsibilities
- Design and build new features for the DOOH platform, extending the architecture to support future capabilities on the roadmap.
- Work closely with other developers, tech leads and product owners to understand requirements, discuss implementation options and ensure smooth integration across services.
- Follow established coding standards, development processes and best practices to produce clean, well-tested and maintainable code.
- Contribute to deploying services to production, troubleshooting issues and helping support and maintain production infrastructure as part of a team that owns its services.

- Contributed high-quality code, following good development practices and participating actively in code reviews.
- Delivered new ad delivery capabilities that are live in production and seen by millions of people.
- Helped support and maintain production infrastructure as part of the team s you build it, you run it ethos.
- Worked with the team to shape the product roadmap, balancing platform improvements with new feature requests from the business.
Requirements
- Strong experience with modern Java (ideally Java 21), Spring Boot and relational databases.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and publish-subscribe systems such as Kafka or AWS SNS/SQS.
- A focus on writing well-tested, maintainable and observable code.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, Terraform) and cloud-based environments, ideally AWS EKS and Kubernetes.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and a willingness to learn and work with other languages and technologies across Global s ecosystem.
